| Day 17 Girdwood to Denali (5/30) map
We left Girdwood and headed for Denali which took most of the day. When we arrived at Denali around 3 pm, the sun came out but continued to play hide and seek. We made our arrangements for a bus ride the next day. Most of the park is restricted to only bus traffic, but the first 12 miles are open to private cars. We drove slowly down the road and stopped frequently to look for wildlife. |
| We spotted several groups of Caribou. We also saw both male and female pTarmigian, the Alaskan state bird. We arrived at our B&B about 6:30 (The GrandView); it is about 12 miles north of the park in Healy. We spent 3 nights here. It is an apartment type unit with full kitchen and lots of goodies. |
